Community Volunteering is made up of on-campus and off-campus projects that benefit both BU and the local community. These can vary from 5 minute volunteering to running a long term project. Community Volunteering is where you are expected to dedicate your time to people in charities and organisations, for example volunteering with patients with Alzheimer’s, litter picking on the beach, or conservation work in the environment. If you want to help run these great events and have something great on your CV, then this position could be for you.
The Community Volunteering Chair is expected to host the SUBU Volunteering Fair (October), the SUBU Refreshers’ Fair volunteering area (February) and national Student Volunteer Week (February). You are also expected to organise and run on campus volunteering and community campaigns.
As Chair, you should be organised, prepared to put the time in and passionate about volunteering and the local community. You will be responsible for chairing leadership team meetings, and you will receive training and support from the student volunteers and staff in the SUBU Community team.
